Circle of Security: Session 8

This is an 8 session series training for parents, childcare teachers, and childcare directors. At times all parents and caregivers feel lost or without a clue about what children might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your children were really asking from you.

The Circle of Security Parenting program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child and teacher-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Early Mathematics for Early Learners: Patterns, Measurement and Data (Part 3)

This instructor-led course is appropriate for directors and teachers of 4 and 5 year old children. Course participants will gain early math knowledge and practical information about how to structure the classroom environment and plan activities to integrate math concepts and skills throughout the learning day. The course focuses on the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011) and the importance of using a developmental progression when teaching math throughout the day. Picture slideshows and videos filmed in Florida's early learning classrooms as well as interactive activities will provide examples for how to support children in learning new math skills and using the "language of math". The pictures and videos presented will also demonstrate best practices for instruction of the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Standards for Four-Year-Olds. Training on the Standards for Four-Year-Olds (online or instructor-led) is a recommended prerequisite for this course. 3 hours; 0.3 CEUs.

Terrific Twos

Participants will understand the meaning of challenging behaviors and why young children demonstrate challenging behaviors to communicate. Challenging behavior is one way children communicate to tell you what he or she needs or wants. When children do not know the appropriate way to express their needs or wants, they will use challenging behavior to communicate. In this training, participants will compare and contrast teaching strategies to effectively build positive relationships. Participants will also collaborate in implementing new, more effective and appropriate strategies to teach young children how to express their needs and wants.
