MMCI: Making the Most of Classroom Interactions, Sessions 7 & 8

Making the Most of Classroom Interaction (MMCI) is an interactive course for teachers and care providers led by a Teachstone-trained instructor. Over the course of ten sessions, your instructor provides in-person training. This course will prepare you to identify, understand, and apply stronger CLASS interactions to your preschool classroom.

Teachers and Care Providers who participate in MMCI trainings:

  • Learn to identify and describe effective interactions in classrooms and care settings.
  • Discuss ways to interact intentionally to increase children's learning.
  • Gain access to valuable print and video resources aligned with the CLASS measure.

Cost: FREE

  • Honor your innate wisdom and desire for children to be secure

Childcare Safety Guidelines for Florida Heat

This 2 hour training is aimed at educating early childcare staff on the importance of adopting safe behaviors and techniques for the hot Florida Heat. This educational training includes a staff training module for heatstroke prevention and parent education materials. By instilling lifelong safety habits, one can prevent skin cancer and other dangerous heat accidents. Prevention is the key for safety in the Florida heat.

This instructor-led course is appropriate for directors and teachers of 4 and 5 year old children. Course participants will gain early math knowledge and practical information about how to structure the classroom environment and plan activities to integrate math concepts and skills throughout the learning day.

The course focuses on the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011) and the importance of using a developmental progression when teaching math throughout the day. Picture slideshows and videos filmed in Florida's early learning classrooms as well as interactive activities will provide examples for how to support children in learning new math skills and using the "language of math". The pictures and videos presented will also demonstrate best practices for instruction of the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Standards for Four-Year-Olds. Training on the Standards for Four-Year-Olds (online or instructor-led) is a recommended prerequisite for this course. This course is module 2 of 4 early mathematics courses. 3 hours; 0.3 CEUs.

Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten

This training is based on the newly revised Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and provides an overview of the standards used in preschool classrooms serving children ages three years old to Kindergarten. This training meets the lead VPK instructor training requirements and incorporates the standards approved for use in VPK programs.

Examples of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for preschool age children are provided throughout the training along with information about purposeful planning, reflective practice and qualities of an effective educator. Through an interactive presentation, video clips, and hands-on activities, participants will become familiar with the Standards and understand the elements of quality instruction in preschool classrooms. (3 hours and 0.3 CEUs)
