Circle of Security: Session 2 Cohort 2

This is an 8 session series training for parents, childcare teachers, and childcare directors. At times all parents and caregivers feel lost or without a clue about what children might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your children were really asking from you. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child and teacher-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Learning Objectives of the Training:

  • Understand children's emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • Support a child's ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of a child's self esteem
  • Honor your innate wisdom and desire for children to be secure

Contact Christine Dyal at c.dyal@phelc.org for any questions.

Participants will not be allowed to enter 10 minutes after class start time. This event is for adults only please. CEUs are not offered for this training. Attendance is required for all 8 sessions to receive a 16 hour in-service certificate.

Early Mathematics for Early Learners: Patterns, Measurement and Data (Part 3)

This instructor-led course is appropriate for directors and teachers of 4 and 5 year old children. Course participants will gain early math knowledge and practical information about how to structure the classroom environment and plan activities to integrate math concepts and skills throughout the learning day. The course focuses on the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011) and the importance of using a developmental progression when teaching math throughout the day.

Picture slideshows and videos filmed in Florida's early learning classrooms as well as interactive activities will provide examples for how to support children in learning new math skills and using the "language of math". The pictures and videos presented will also demonstrate best practices for instruction of the mathematical thinking number sense standards outlined in the Standards for Four-Year-Olds.

Training on the Standards for Four-Year-Olds (online or instructor-led) is a recommended prerequisite for this course. 3 hours; 0.3 CEUs. You must register on the DCF website for this training www.myflorida.com/childcare/training. Please use reference # 8271.
